Four teams in search of precious points

As the end of the BOV Premier League first phase draws near, four teams will be all out to claim the three points at the Hibernians Stadium on Saturday in their bid to move closer to securing a top six finish.

In the first match, Qormi take on Sliema Wanderers.

The Wanderers are currently seventh on 14 points after bringing their rather disappointing run to an end with a most dramatic 4-3 win over Vittoriosa Stars last Sunday. A win over Qormi would put them in sixth place although Marsaxlokk would have a game in hand.

Qormi lie one point behind the Blues and hope to return to winning ways after a positive outing against Tarxien last week – a game from which they claimed an important point.

Stefan Giglio could be back for Qormi but Joseph Farrugia is ruled out injured. Sliema will be lacking the suspended Josef Mifsud.

In the first round, the two teams shared the spoils in a goalless draw.

In the second match, Marsaxlokk face Birkirkara.

After quite a positive start, Marsaxlokk disappointed in recent outings and are currently sixth on 15 points. They failed to win in their last six matches, collecting only three points in three draws with Vittoriosa, Sliema and Hibernians.

Birkirkara are currently fourth and are coming from a 1-3 defeat to leaders Valletta last Saturday. Against Marsaxlokk, they will be without the suspended Angus Buhagiar and Paul Fenech.

Marsaxlokk, on the other hand, welcome back Carlo Mamo and Ruben Guerreiro Gravata after missing the game against Hibernians.

In the first round, Marsaxlokk defeated Birkirkara 5-2.
