Great comeback by Balzan — Mosta turn defeat into victory

Balzan Youths registered an incredible 4-3 win over Pietà Hotspurs. A win which strengthens the Youths’ leadership in the BOV First Division.

Daniel Alves Campos put Pietà ahead after just two minutes. Robson Luiz Bandeira doubled the score on 46 minutes and four minutes later, Quelin Refalo made it 3-0. However the Youths had other ideas. Steve Meilak reduced the score on 52 minutes and six minutes later, Aaron Agius scored a second goal for Balzan. Renato Conceicao levelled matters on 74 minutes and two minutes later, Lydon Micallef made it 4-3.

In the first game, Mosta came back from two goals down to beat St. Andrews 3-2 to collect three important points.

Nicky Vella Petroni put the Saints ahead on the 5th and Ronni Hartvig doubled the score on the 14th. Mark Briggs converted a penalty on 36 minutes and four minutes later, Nikola Bogdanovic levelled matters. William Camenzuli notched the winner on the 67th.

Balzan lead the way with 20 points, followed by Mosta on 17, Mqabba 16, St. George’s 14, Lija 13, St. Andrews 12, Melita 11, Pietà 9, Dingli 6 and Msida -4.
