Birzebbuga St. Peter’s maintained their challenge for promotion to Division 1 as they defeated Senglea Athletic 2-0 on Monday in one of the two matches from the BOV Second Division. A win which puts Joe Gerada’s side in fourth place.

In another match, Rabat Ajax were held in a goalless draw by St. Patrick. The Magpies therefore continue to lose ground after collecting just four points from the last four matches and are now fifth.

On Sunday, San Gwann held Zebbug in a 1-1 draw while Gzira United defeated Zurrieq 3-0.

Zejtun lead the way with 29 points, followed by Naxxar and Mellieha on 25, Birzebbuga on 24, Rabat 23, St. Patrick 20, Gzira and Zebbug 17, Senglea 16, San Gwann 12, Zurrieq 9 and Mgarr 4.
