Women's League: First defeat for Mosta but Blues maintain comfortable lead

After ten successive wins, Women’s First Division League leaders Mosta suffered their first defeat on Wednesday, losing 0-1 to champions Birkirkara.

However the Blues maintain a most comfortable lead as they lie seven points ahead of the Stripes and Hibernians, despite having a game in hand. In fact, Mosta need just a win from the remaining four matches to secure the championship for the first time in their history.

The next game for Mosta is on March 22 against Hibernians. The Women’s First Division League will in fact take a break early in March due to the UEFA Women’s EURO 2013 Preliminary Round mini-tournament which will be played in Malta. Malta takes on Georgia on March 3, the Faroe Islands on March 5 and Armenia on March 8.

All matches are due to be played at the Centenary Stadium.

The winner of the two preliminary round mini-tournaments will join the main qualifying round draw which will be held on March 14.
