Qormi, Sliema seek winning start

Qormi and Sliema Wanderers will be aiming for a winning start to their second phase commitments as the two teams cross swords in a clash from the Relegation Pool at the Hibernians Stadium on Monday, kick-off at 19:30.

Both sides were disappointed to miss out on a place in the Championship Pool and now need to collect as many points as early as possible in order to secure their Premier League status. They are currently on the 11-point mark together with Hibernians, five ahead of Vittoriosa Stars.

Qormi are coming from three positive results – two wins over Hibs and Birkirkara and a draw with Marsaxlokk. Sliema defeated Floriana and Hibernians in their last two outings.

Goalkeeper Matthew Farrugia is ruled out through suspension for Qormi. Obinna Obiefule returns for Sliema after serving a one-match ban.

The two clashes between Qormi and Sliema in the first two rounds ended in two goalless draws.
