BOV Division 1: Mqabba move second — Fine win for Dingli

Mqabba moved back in second place thanks to a 3-1 win over Lija Athletic.

John Paul Muscat put them ahead seven minutes in the second half but four minutes later, Lija levelled matters thanks to Daniel Scerri. However a brace by Brazilian striker Thiago Dos Santos Mazitelli on 61 and 70 minutes gave Clive Mizzi’s side three important points.

Balzan lead the way with 32 points, followed by Mqabba on 25, Mosta 24, Melita 23, St. George’s 21 an Lija 20.

Meanwhile in another match, Dingli Swallows returned to winning ways as they defeated Pietà Hotspurs 4-1. A win which enables the Swallows to join the Hotspurs in seventh place, one point ahead of St. Andrews.

Dingli went four goals ahead thanks to Sammut (14′), Prince Will Okachi (34′), Leontiev Konda (51′) and Kevin Borg (65′) before Larson Mallia scored a consolation goal for the Hotspurs six minutes from time.
