BOV Division 1: Shead scores four as Mosta register comfortable win

Mosta registered a most comfortable 6-1 win over St. Andrews to move joint-second in the BOV First Division.

The Blues ended their commitments on 32 points but Mqabba and Melita who are third on 29 points still have a game in hand. Should Melita win their last league game, a decider would be necessary between Mosta and Melita. Mqabba have already been promoted as even if they lose their last game and end on level points with Mosta and Melita, they would still have a better record in direct encounters.

Mark Briggs put Mosta ahead on 28 minutes and then Simon Shead scored four goals – on 37, 51, 58 and 73 minutes to increase the lead to 5-0. Kenneth Spiteri scored a sixth goal on 76 minutes before William Camilleri scored a consolation goal for the Saints two minutes from time.

Meanwhile in the first game, Dingli Swallows defeated Lija Athletic 2-1.

Princewell Okachi put Dingli ahead on 72 minutes, Beppe Antignolo levelled matters for Lija seven minutes later but Okachi scored again on 92 minutes to hand the Swallows the three points.
