Schembri, Barbara continue to score

Andre Schembri and Etienne Barbara were once again on target, scoring important goals for their teams.

In Hungary, Andre Schembri scored the tenth goal of the season as he helped Ferencváros beat MTK 3-1 away from home to move second in the table. Fradi, who had Malta international goalkeeper Justin Haber in goal, are fighting for a place in the UEFA Europa League. This would mark their return to European football after an absence of six years.

In the United States, Etienne Barbara scored the third goal in as many matches for Carolina RailHawks in the NASL. The RailHawks are currently joint-first with six points from three matches.

In England, Daniel Bogdanovic scored five goals this season for Sheffield United. However the Blades are currently at the bottom of the table in the League Championship.

In Cyprus, former Malta international Luke Dimech and striker Njongo Priso – who is on loan from Valletta – are playing regularly for AEK Larnaca. After finishing fourth, AEK made it to the Championship Pool.

Meanwhile the season in Australia came to an end last month with John Hutchinson’s Central Coast Mariners losing the Grand Final of the A-League to Brisbane Roar on penalties. Manny Muscat’s Wellington Phoenix placed sixth but he had an excellent season, winning the club’s Player’s Player of the Year Award and the Member’s Player of the Year Award, and voted second for the Sony Player of the Year Award.
