Anderson Ribeiro joins Hamrun Spartans

Following the appointment of Jesmond Zammit as coach and Vince Carbonaro as his assistant together with the signing of Heiner Backhaus and Gianluca Calabretta earlier this month, Hamrun Spartans continued to strengthen their squad with the signing of Brazilian striker Anderson Mendes Ribeiro.

Like Backhaus who had played in Malta earlier – turning out for Valletta in season 2007/08, Ribeiro is also making his return to Malta after having played for Tarxien Rainbows in season 2009/10. Last season, he played for Metalurh Zaporizhya in Ukraine where he had spent most of his career.

Goalkeeper Omar Borg who was on loan from Birkirkara last season is expected to play for the Spartans once again this season while Roderick Fenech, who was believed to seek a move elsewhere, is now set to stay with the club.
