New foreigners for Hibernians — Long-term deals for Muscat, Cohen

During the club’s Annual General Meeting which was held on Friday, Hibernians president Tony Bezzina announced the signing of two Brazilian players – defender Diego Douglas Balbinos and Edison Luis dos Santos ‘Tarabai’.

Balbinot is a 27-year old defender who played in Brazil, Hong Kong, Estonia and Hungary. On the other hand, for Tarabai, this will be his second year in Malta after playing for Vittoriosa Stars last season.

Bezzina revealed the club is hoping to sign another Brazilian player together with two Nigerian Under-21 internationals.

The Hibernians president announced that Andrew Cohen and Mario Muscat both signed long-term deals with the club. Cohen signed a five-year contract and Muscat a four-year contract. The Paolites also secured the services of Steve Pisani from San Gwann on a permanent deal after he spent last season on loan with the club.

The club’s new committee was elected during the same AGM. Tony Bezzina was confirmed as president for the 33rd successive year. The other members to be elected are David Abdilla, Jesmond Abela, Stephen Abela, Stefan Zahra, Victor Ellul, Godwin Attard, Patrick Cauchi and William Hendy.
