UEFA Europa League: Birkirkara eliminated despite draw in Albania

Birkirkara were eliminated from the UEFA Europa League following a 1-1 draw with KF Vllaznia Shkoder at the Loro Boriçi Stadium in Shkoder in the second leg of the first qualifying round. Vllaznia therefore reached the next stage with a 2-1 aggregate score where they will be meeting FC Thun of Switzerland.

Coach Patrick Curmi made two changes from the team which lost narrowly at the Hibs Stadium, including Leighton Grech and Brazilian striker David Silva in the starting line-up. Andrei Agius was in fact unavailable as his contract with the club expired at the end of the month while Andrew Decesare started the game on the bench.

Armando Vajushi put Vllaznia ahead after just four minutes but Brazilian striker David Silva levelled matters for Birkirkara on the 17th.
