Works on the Xag?ra training grounds to resume shortly

Floriana FC announced that works on the Floriana FC training ground at the Xaghra will resume shortly.

In a statement, the club thanked the Malta Football Association for their co-operation as without the financial assistance provided by the association, the project, which will consist of the installation of an artificial turf pitch, would have not been possible.

Floriana FC have been working hard over the past years to improve the facilities at the Independence Arena and with this project, the club will have excellent facilities which could also host competitive matches throughout the year without the constraints of natural turf pitches.

Works over the past months included the foundations for the posts of the floodlights, installation of new fencing, etc.

As part of the preparations for this project, the committee held talks with the authorities over the works involved in this project. In fact, the government intends to build a parking area in the area where there are currently the stairs leading to the pitch. Since works are expected to start in the coming months, the club was advised by experts not to lay the artificial turf pitch before the works on the parking area are completed.

Therefore Floriana FC will start the artificial turf pitch as soon as works on the parking area are completed.

The committee thanked the Malta Football Association for making the funds available for this project and for supporting the development and sustainability of local clubs.
