Citizens 90 minutes away from matching record

Valletta could match the record established by Hibernians between 1980 and 1983 when they managed a run of thirty seven matches without defeat if they obtain a positive result from the game against Mosta on Sunday.

The Citizens’ last league defeat goes back to March 28, 2010 when they lost 0-1 to Birkirkara. Since then, they won twenty-six matches and drew ten. This season, Valletta are the only team with maximum points after playing three matches.

Mosta could only aim at giving their opponents a hard time. They collected their first point in a draw with Balzan Youths after losing the first two games against Marsaxlokk and Birkirkara.

The Blues could have a new Brazilian midfielder in squad. Valletta, on the other hand, will be missing Ryan Fenech who is ruled out injured.

Meanwhile in the first match, Qormi and Tarxien Rainbows cross swords in a clash between two teams who are eager for points after failing to impress in the first matches.

Qormi lost to Birkirkara and Valletta but collected three points in a 3-0 win over newly-promoted Balzan Youths. Tarxien, on the other hand, earned a point in a draw with Hamrun Spartans after suffering defeats to Valletta and Floriana.

Tarxien coach Noel Coleiro has the full squad at his disposal. For Qormi, Christos Karamanolis and Giuseppe Vela Jr are ruled but Kenneth Scicluna could be back.
