Under-21 side aims for positive result in Gozo

The Malta Under-21 side will be aiming for a positive result on Friday as it hosts Ukraine at the Gozo Stadium, kick-off at 18:00.

Malta collected four points in a draw with Finland and a win over Lithuania away from home in June but then suffered two defeats to Slovenia and Finland at the Hibernians Ground last month.

Ukraine are still without any points but they played just one match, losing to Sweden 2-0 last month.

Malta coach Ray ‘Zazu’ Farrugia could not count on his best formation as two players are suspended. Mark Scerri was sent off in the defeat to Finland while Matthew Gauci collected a second yellow card in the same game.

The squad is therefore made up of:
goalkeepers Daniel Balzan (St. Andrews), Steve Sultana (Qormi);
defenders Owen Bugeja (Floriana), Yessous Camilleri (Balzan), Cleaven Cassar (Pietà), Kane Paul Farrugia (Mosta), Luca Martinelli (Mosta), Zach Muscat (Pietà);
midfielders Clyde Borg (Floriana), Triston Caruana (Hibs), Sheldon Grech (Mosta), Dylan Grima (Balzan), Bjorn Kristensen (Hibs), Rowen Muscat (Birkirkara);
forwards Miguel Ciantar (Balzan), Leighton Grech (Birkirkara), Lydon Micallef (Balzan), Steve Pisani (Hibs), Terence Vella (Birkirkara).

Tickets for Malta vs Ukraine are available at the gates and cost €4.
