Patrick Curmi appointed Tarxien Rainbows coach

Tarxien Rainbows F.C. have appointed Patrick Curmi as their new coach. Curmi replaces Noel Coleiro whose contract was terminated by mutual agreement after the Rainbows suffered the sixth defeat in eight matches, leaving them at the bottom of the table on four points together with Mosta.

Curmi therefore returns to lead a Premier League club after his contract with Birkirkara, whom he had joined in summer, was terminated by mutual consent last month.

Earlier in his career, Patrick Curmi had coached Marsa and Pietà Hotspurs before joining Msida St. Joseph in 2007. Mid-way through season 2008/09, he joined Marsaxlokk with whom he won the First Division championship 2009/10.

In a statement, the committee of Tarxien Rainbows wished Curmi success with the club and thanked Noel Coleiro for the work done over the past four years. They wished him all the best in his career.

Noel Coleiro had joined the Rainbows in Division 1 in season 2007/08, winning promotion to the Premier League. Under his guidance, Tarxien retained their Premier League status at the end of season 2008/09. In the following seasons, they managed two fifth places.
