Women's League: Birkirkara take sole leadership

Birkirkara took sole leadership in the Women’s First Division as they defeated champions Mosta 1-0 in this week’s big match.

Hibernians also maintained their hundred percent record as they defeated Raiders (Luxol) 5-1. On the other hand, Pembroke Athleta registered their second win, defeating Gozo 2-1.

Birkirkara lead the way with twelve points, Hibernians and Mosta on nine, Pembroke six, Gozo and Marsa without any points. Birkirkara, Mosta and Pembroke played four while Hibs, Gozo and Marsa played three.

In the Women’s Second Division League, Mgarr United defeated Hamrun Spartans 3-1 in a top-of-the-table clash to maintain their positive run with maximum points from four matches.

Zurrieq beat Sta. Venera Lightnings 5-2 to join the Spartans in second place on nine points. Kirkop United beat Naxxar Lions 5-0. Melita and Tarxien Rainbows shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw while Sta. Lucia defeated Zejtun Corinthians 1-0.

Meanwhile in the Girls Under-16 League, Hamrun Spartans beat Lija/Iklin 4-0, Melita defeated Naxxar Lions 8-1 while Tarxien Rainbows beat Kirkop United 3-0.
