Youth League: St. Andrews maintain hundred percent record in Section A

St. Andrews maintained their hundred percent record with a third win in three matches as they defeated Floriana 1-0 in the Youth League Section A.

Birkirkara joined them on top with nine points as the beat Pietà Hotspurs 2-1 but the Saints have a game in hand.

Valletta and Pietà are third on seven points, followed by Melita on 5, Floriana, Hibs and Qormi on 3, St. Patrick 1 and Attard 0.

After winning the first five matches, Section B leaders Hamrun Spartans suffered their first defeat on Monday as they lost to Rabat Ajax 0-1. The Magpies are still unbeaten with three wins and three draws from six matches and are currently second on 12 points.

Marsaxlokk are third on 11 points, followed by Sliema on 9, Balzan and Naxxar 8, San Gwann and Mosta 7, Msida 3 and Mgarr 0.

Section C leaders St. Venera Lightnings also suffered the first defeat as they lost to Zebbug Rangers by the odd goal in five. Zebbug move on the 14-point mark, one point behind the Lightnings.

Pembroke are third on 11 points, followed by Senglea and Gudja on 10, Siggiewi and Lija 6, Mellieha 5, Tarxien 4 and Zurrieq 1.

Four teams share the top spot in Section D as Zejtun Corithians, Dingli Swallows, Vittoriosa Stars and Mqabba lead the way on 13 points with four wins and a draw.

Birzebbuga St. Peter’s are fifth on 10, followed by Gzira and Sirens on 9, Marsa 8, Ghaxaq and St. George’s 5, Mtarfa, Kalkara and Santa Lucia 4, Fgura and Kirkop 3 and Xghajra 0.
