Floriana target third successive win

Floriana will be hoping to claim the three points on Sunday in their bid to keep the pace with Valletta and Hibernians as they take on Tarxien Rainbows in one of the two BOV Premier League matches in programme at the Hibernians Stadium.

The Greens are currently third, eleven and eight points respectively behind Valletta and Hibs, and therefore with a win over Tarxien, they would narrow the gap to eight and five points. Last week, they had to wait till late to notch the winner as they beat Mqabba 1-0.

The Rainbows are currently second from bottom with ten points and lost five out of the last seven matches. Last week, they lost 1-4 to Valletta.

Tarxien coach Patrick Curmi will be unable to field his best formation as Ricardo Costa is injured while Caio Suguino is out after receiving a one-match ban.

In the first round, Floriana defeated Tarxien 2-1.

Meanwhile in the first match, Birkirkara will be hoping to return to winning ways as they take on Mosta.

The Stripes disappointed in recent outings, losing two of the last three matches. They are currently fifth on 19 points, fifteen behind leaders Valletta.

Mosta, on the other hand, lie at the bottom of the table with six points after holding Marsaxlokk in a draw in their last outing. They lost six out of the last nine matches.

Luca Martinelli will be back for Mosta after serving a one-match ban. Birkirkara’s Leighton Grech is suspended.

In the first round, Birkirkara registered a 3-1 win.
