Seven Premier League players suspended

Seven Premier League players were suspended by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner while hefty bans were handed after the BOV Third Division match between Mdina Knights and Fgura United.

In the Premier League, Spanish striker Moises Avila Perez of Birkirkara was suspended for two matches while Paul Fenech and Shaun Bajada (both Birkirkara), Massimo Grima (Hamrun), Sheldon Grech (Mosta), Roderick Sammut (Qormi) and William Barbosa (Valletta) were all banned for one match.

Avila Perez, Fenech and Bajada are ruled out of Hibs vs Birkirkara. Avila Perez will also miss the game against Mqabba.

Grima will be missing the game agaisnt Tarxien and Grech that against Balzan. Sammut and Barbosa are ruled out of Qormi vs Valletta.

In Division 1, Arlindo Rustemi of Rabat Ajax was banned for two matches while Glenn Tanti and Ivan Casha (Birzebbuga), Leontiev Konda (Dingli), Edison Fiori dos Santos (Naxxar) and Nikolay Filipov (Zejtun) were banned for one game.

Karl Saliba (Gzira) and Christopher Cuschieri (San Gwann) were suspended for one match in Division 2.

In Division 3, Mdina had three players and their coach suspended. Coach Eric Schembri was banned for ten matches, Adrian Gatt for five matches, Matthew Francalanza for two and Justin Buhagiar for one. Fgura’s Carl Calvagna was banned for six matches while Leeroy Bonnett, also of Fgura, was suspended for one match.

In the Youth League, Felix Peplow (Birzebbuga) was suspended for two matches while Alexander Cauchi (Fgura), Andrea Cassar (Hamrun), Clyde Borg (Florian), Fabian Axisa and Mauro Calleja (Mellieha), Gianluca Agius (San Gwann), Leone Camilleri (Valletta), Darren Farrugia (Zebbug) and Luke Joseph Bugeja (Zurrieq).
