Successful edition of the Firetech Christmas Festival

Hamrun Spartans FC Youth Nursery have organised the Firetech Christmas Festival for the fourteenth consecutive year. The festival was held on the 8th and 13th December 2011. Around 250 young players from 10 different nurseries participated in this event. Participation was open for four age categories – boys born in 2005, 2004, 2003 and 2001.

New rules and regulations as presented by the MFA Technical Centre were adopted for the first time during this festival and these proved to be a success. These new rules and regulations included new goal post and pitch measurements, the aim being for children to see more of the ball. In line with Youth FA policy, no winners were declared and game results not published but each participant was given a memento. Fair Play Awards were given to Valletta (age category 2005), Mosta (2004), Hamrun (2003) and Naxxar L. (2001).

The festival was yet another success for Hamrun Spartans Youth Nursery especially for the way it was organised. Many of those present confirmed this success by their comments after the final presentation to participants. The venue of this Festival – the Victor Tedesco Stadium – gives added prestige to the event as the young players are given the unique opportunity to play in a stadium where top level football is played. Mr. Robert Gatt, Head of the MFA Technical Centre, also paid a visit during the Festival and gave his positive comments to the organising committee. The next event for Hamrun Spartans Youth Nursery is the ever-popular Tony Bajada Memorial International Edition being scheduled for the Easter holidays.

Hamrun Spartans Youth Nursery would like to thank their coaching staff for officiating as time keepers in the lower categories and the MFA referees for their role in the 2001 category matches. The Nursery would also like to thank Firetech Limited for sponsoring this festival for the eighth consecutive time. Firetech specialises in fire, safety and security and operates from its premises in Mill Street, Qormi..
