The annual Boxing Day football tournament between coaches, referees and journalists which as from this year also included MFA staff was held on Monday morning at the Centenary Stadium, Ta’ Qali.

Thanks to the help of the MFA who provided the venue and other equipment and the sponsorship by FXDD, donations from the players and the Associations – namely the Malta Football Coaches Association, the Malta Football Referees Association, the G?aqda ?urnalisti Sportivi and the MFA Staff – amounted to €3,050. These funds will be going towards the Community Chest Fund.

The Malta Football Coaches Association therefore won the tournament with maximum points from three matches, followed by the MFA Staff on 4 points, Malta Football Referees Association on two and the G?aqda ?urnalisti Sportivi one.

Paul Zammit ended as top scorer with five goals followed by Noel Turner on four. Ivan Mizzi won the award for the Best Goal.

The matches were contolled by former referees Mr Lawrence Sammut and Mr Joe Azzopardi.

The President of the MFA and the Chief Executive Officer were also present for this activity together with other officials from the participating Association.
