Women's League: Birkirkara move six points clear

Leaders Birkirkara move six points clear on top the BOV Women’s First Division thanks to a 6-0 win over Pembroke Athleta on Tuesday. In another match, Hibernians were awarded a walk-over in the game against Marsa.

On Sunday, Gozo were awarded a walk-over over Raiders (Luxol).

Birkirkara lead the way with 31 points, followed by Mosta on 25, Hibernians 21, Gozo 15, Pembroke 12, Raiders (Luxol) 3 and Marsa 0.

In the BOV Women’s Second Division, leaders Mgarr United registered their eleventh win as they defeated Kirkop United 5-1.

Hamrun Spartans beat Lija / Iklin 8-0 while St. Venera Yellow Blues defeated Zejtun Corinthians 7-0.

The game between Tarxien Rainbows and Santa. Lucia was abandoned on 65 minutes with the score 6-0 as the latter were left with just six players.

Another match which was scheduled to be played on Tuesday between Melita and Naxxar Lions was postponed as no referees turned up for the game.

Mgarr lead the way with 33 points, followed by Hamrun on 28, Zurrieq 25, Tarxien 22, St. Venera 19, Kirkop 15, Melita 14, Lija / Iklin 9, Santa Lucia 4, Naxxar 2 and Zejtun 1.
