Eight Premier League players suspended

Three Premier League players were handed a two-match ban and another five were suspended for one match by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner following last weekend’s matches from the BOV Premier League.

Eric Akoto (Floriana), Jorge Pereira da Silva (Qormi) and Daniel Mitev (Sliema) were banned for two matches while Bledjon Guga, Bjorn Bondin and Jonathan Francica (Balzan), Gianluca Calabretta (Hamrun) and Andrew Cohen (Hibs) were banned for one match.

Akoto is ruled out of the games against Birkirkara and Mosta. Pereira da Silva will be missing the games against Mosta and Hibs while Mitev is ruled out of the matches against Sliema and Tarxien. Balzan will be lacking Guga, Bondin and Francica for the match against Marsaxlokk while Calabretta and Cohen are ruled out of the game Hibernians vs Hamrun.

In Division 1, Ronnie Celeste (Birzebbuga), Francis Owusu, Reuben Vella and Roderick Briffa (Dingli) were all banned for one match while Keith Bonello (Gudja), Elton Bugeja (Gudja), Jimmy Hussey (Gzira), Mark Muscat, Jonathan Onuoha and Andrew Hili (Sta. Venera) were suspended for one match in Division 2.

Felix Peplow (Marsaskala) and Kurt Formosa (Mdina) were handed a one-match ban in Division 3.

In the Youth League, Rodney Bajada (St. George’s) was banned for two matches.
