BOV Division 1: Melita win big match to join leaders

Melita defeated Pietà Hotspurs in this weekend’s big match from the BOV First Division to join the Hotspurs and Rabat Ajax on top. The Magpies however have a game in hand.

For Pietà, this was the second consecutive defeat after losing to Rabat last week.

A brace by Nicolo Baldacchino and a goal by Luke Micallef gave the Amateurs the three points. Larson Mallia scored the Hotspurs’ only goal.

Meanwhile Zejtun Corinthians moved to just two points behind the leaders as they defeated Dingli Swallows 1-0, courtesy of a Kenneth Abela goal.

Pietà, Rabat and Melita lead the way with 29 points, followed by Zejtun 27, St. Andrews 21, Naxxar and Birzebbuga 17, Lija 16, Dingli 15, Vittoriosa 11, St. George’s 9 and St. Patrick 8.
