Lija Athletic registered a third consecutive win in the BOV First Division as a goal by Ige Abdullahi Adeshina handed them a narrow win over Birzebbuga St. Peter’s.

Lija now move sixth on 19 points, two ahead of Naxxar Lions and Birzebbuga. Naxxar, however, have two games in hand.

Pietà Hotspurs, on the other hand, dropped another two points as they were held in a goalless draw by St. George’s.

The Hotspurs, who suffered two defeats in the previous two outings, move alone on top the BOV First Division table but Rabat Ajax and Melita, who both lie one point behind them, have two games and one game in hand respectively.

Pietà lead the way with 30 points, followed by Rabat and Melita on 29, Zejtun 27, St. Andrews 21, Lija 19, Naxxar and Birzebbuga 17, Dingli 15, Vittoriosa 11, St. Georges 10 and St. Patrick 8.
