BOV Division 1: St. George’s awarded points after winning protest against Pietà

St. George’s were awarded a 2-0 win over Pietà Hotspurs after the MFA Protests Board upheld a protest filed by the Saints over the ineligibility of Kelvin Onosuighe. The BOV First Division League match which was played on March 4th had ended in a goalless draw.

St. George’s argued that Onosuighe’s registration was invalid as it breached Article 39 Section 4 of the Statute which states that a player is only eligible to play in competitive matches for a maximum of two clubs during one season.

Onosuighe had played for CD Binefar in Spain and then played a game for FCM Maramures Univesitar II Baia Mare in Romania.

The Hotspurs still lead the table but now share the top spot with Rabat Ajax on 32 points, followed by Melita and Zejtun on 30, St. Andrews 24, Lija 19, Naxxar and Birzebbuga 17, Dingli and Vittoriosa 15, St. George’s 13 and St. Patrick 12.
