Mosta, Mqabba in almost decisive clash against relegation

Mosta take on Mqabba in what could turn out to be a decisive clash against relegation in one of the two BOV Premier League clashes on Saturday at the National Stadium.

Hamrun currently lead the way in the Relegation Pool, followed by Qormi on 24, Tarxien 21, Mosta 20 and Mqabba 17. Therefore a win for Mosta would put the Blues six points ahead of Mqabba with three games to go.

Mosta claimed seven points from the last three matches, sharing the spoils in a draw with Hamrun on Monday. A win is a must in order to move closer to securing their Premier League status – in what would be a historic first for the club.

Mqabba suffered a heavy 0-5 defeat to Tarxien Rainbows last week, leaving them second from bottom. They lost two of the last three matches, collecting the only point in a draw with Hamrun.

Defender Branislav Timotic will be back after missing the last game through suspension. Predrag Mirceta returns for Mosta after serving a one-match ban.

Mosta and Mqabba met three times this season – a 1-1 draw, a 3-0 win for Mosta and a 1-0 for Mqabba.
In the second match, Hibernians take on Floriana.

Meanwhile in another match, Hibernians take on Floriana.

Hibernians start as favourites to claim the three points as they target a win to maintain the challenge for the title. A win would also enable them to make sure of securing a top-two finish. They won five of the last seven matches, returning to winning ways last week thanks to a 3-1 win over Sliema after losing to Valletta the previous week.

Floriana won three out of the last four matches and thanks to wins over Sliema and Birkirkara in their last two outings, they managed to move back in third place.

The Greens welcome back Christian Caruana after serving a three-match ban but Pablo Doffo and Clyde Borg are suspended. Christian Cassar is out on a long-term injury

The two teams met three times this season – two draws 1-1 and 0-0 and a 2-0 win for Hibernians in the third round clash
