BOV Division 1: Hotspurs return to winning ways — Melita held by Lija

After suffering two consecutive defeats, Pietà Hotspurs returned to winning ways, defeating Dingli Swallows 1-0 in a match from the BOV First Division. The Hotspurs therefore maintain alive hopes for promotion.

Dingli, on the other hand, stay in the relegation zone as they lie just two points ahead of St. George’s and three ahead of bottom-placed St. Patrick.

In the second match, Melita failed to join Rabat Ajax on top after being held in a 1-1 draw by Lija Athletic.

Luke Micallef put the Amateurs ahead but Lija notched the equaliser deep into stoppage time through Gilbert Camilleri.

With three games to go, Rabat lead the way with 42 points, followed by Melita on 40, Pietà 35, Zejtun 30, Naxxar 29, St. Andrews 27, Vittoriosa 25, Birzebbuga 23, Lija 20, Dingli 18, St. George’s 16 and St. Patrick 15.
