Mqabba registered a comfortable 4-0 win over relegated side Marsaxlokk to maintain alive hopes of avoiding relegation as they join Mosta on the 21-point mark, three behind Tarxien Rainbows and four behind Hamrun Spartans.

Mqabba held the initiative right from the start and after that shots by David Fenech and Claudio Calleja were blocked by Christian Cassar, on the 17th minute, a cross by Thiago Mazzitelli was met by Mauro Bonnici whose first-time effort was deflected by Jonathan Xerri into a corner.

The Reds took the lead on 27 minutes when Pierre Grima served Claudio Calleja who extended tha ball to Bojan Mamic and the latter slotted tha ball past the Marsaxlokk custodian after a defender failed to clear the ball into safety.

Two minutes later, Mqabba doubled the score when Bonnici passed the ball to Thiago Mazzitelli whose low shot from close range ended at the back of the net.

Eight minutes from the end of the first half, Mqabba could have added another but Bojan Mamic’s overhead kick inside the penalty area ends just over the bar.

A powerful shot by Bojan Mamic ten minutes in the second half was deflected into a corner by Cassar and ten minutes later, the Marsaxlokk goalkeeper turned into a corner a Julian Briffa effort. Substitute David Azzopardi also had a shot deflected into a corner by a defender on 74 minutes.

Five minutes from time, Mqabba scored the third goal thanks to Thiago dos Santos Mazzitelli, served by Bojan Mamic, who hit low past Cassar.

Bojan Mamic scored the fourth and final goal on the 90th minute with a header off a cross by Mazzitelli.

Bojan Mamic was voted BOV Player of the Match.
