Mosta claim Women’s Knock-Out

Mosta claimed the Women’s Knock-Out after defeating champions Birkirkara 5-3 on penalties.

Mosta had won the Women’s Super Cup in the beginning of the season.

Isabelle Mazzitelli put the Stripes ahead after just ten minutes but eight minutes in the second half, Rebecca D’Agostino equalised for Mosta. With the score still 1-1 at the end of the ninety minutes, the game went into extra-time.

No goals were scored and therefore the penalty shoot-out had to decide the issue.

The penalty shoot-out:
Natasha Pace (M) scored, Chantal Fenech (B) scored;
Rachel Nolan (M) scored, Stefania Farrugia (B) – saved by goalkeeper;
Oriana Bedingfield (M) scored, Martina Cilia (B) scored;
Dorianne Theuma (M) scored, Gabriella Zahra (B) hit wide.

After the game, Mosta captain Rebecca D’Agostino and player-coach Dorianne Theuma were presented with the cup by MFA deputy general secretary Louis Micallef.
