Fine start for Malta Academy in tournament

The Malta Academy registered three comfortable wins in the first three matches from the Torneo Citta di Cairo Montenotte which is being held in Cairo Montenotte, Italy.

In the first game on Thursday, Malta beat Turris 8-0 thanks to goals by Aidan Jake Friggieri (2), Matthew Gullaimier (2), Russell Fenech (2), Myles Beerman and Matthias Lunetti. At the end of the first half, the score was already 6-0.

The team led by Sergio Soldano and Anthony Garzia played two matches on Friday, defeating another Italian team, Savona, 5-0 and Hungary 2-0.

Aidan Jake Friggieri notched a hat-trick in the win over Savona with Nicholas Pulis and Matthias Lunetti adding the other two goals. Friggieri and Russell Fenech scored the two goals in the 2-0 win over Hungary.

Malta therefore finished on top of the group with maximum points.
