Birkirkara, Eurosport agree new technical sponsorship deal

Birkirkara FC will be wearing Adidas kits for at least the next three years after reaching an agreement with Eurosport for the club and nursery’s technical sponsorship. In fact, all Birkirkara teams ranging from the senior side to the nursery teams and the women’s team will be wearing the new Adidas kits.

Details about this sponsorship were revealed during a press conference at the Eurosport outlet in Birkirkara by Eurosport Managing Director Christina Peresso and Birkirkara FC president Joe Zammit.

Christina Peresso said these new kits with the traditional yellow and red stripes were designed specifically for Birkirkara. In fact, this is the first time, Adidas produced a yellow and red striped kit. The shirts also carry a small Maltese flag at the back.

Peresso said that the company wished to enter in a partnership with Birkirkara since the Stripes are one of the most important clubs on the island. This technical sponsorship not only covers the kits of all Birkirkara teams but includes a number of items of merchandise which would be available for supporters.

Eurosport is currently celebrating its twentieth anniversary and the company went through a re-branding exercise with a new logo and new identity being launched.

Birkirkara president Joe Zammit said that although this was the first time that Birkirkara would be wearing Adidas kits provided by Eurosport, past collaboration between the two parties included the visit of AC Milan.

Zammit said that the technical sponorship of Birkirkara by Adidas through Eurosport was a natural decision, not only for the fact that Eurosport’s main outlet is in Birkirkara but mainly due to the fact that Eurosport is a reliable and established company which supplies well-established brands.

The Birkirkara president concluded by saying that supporters will also benefit from this technical sponsorship and encouraged them to use their services.

Birkirkara coach Paul Zammit said he was glad the club’s administration was always on the lookout for sponsors who were ready to invest in the club. He said that together with the administration, he has been working hard for the new season since last January after being re-appointed Birkirkara coach in October.

Paul Zammit said the team was in its final preparations ahead of the BOV Premier League commitments but did not rule out the possibility of further new signings. He said he was really pleased with the players’ positive attitude.

On the other hand, Birkirkara women’s team coach Johann Scicluna said his team has been preparing for the UEFA Women’s Champions League mini-tournament, which kicks-off on Saturday, for the past two months. He said the tournament will definitely be a difficult task but still, the team was looking forward to doing better than in previous years.
