Fine win for Under-21 side over Liechtenstein

?The Malta Under-21 side defeated Liechtenstein 4-1 in a friendly match at the Hibernians Stadium in a friendly match ahead of their final UEFA Under-21 Championship qualifier against Ukraine next month.

Coach Ray ‘Zazu’ Farrugia named Birkirkara’s Ryan Camenzuli in the starting line-up while Fernando Apap of Mosta and Jurgen Pisani of Pieta – another two new faces in the Under-21 squad were included as a substitute.

Malta managed to take the lead after just two minutes through Ryan Scicluna who took advantage of an indecision between two defenders and unleashed a powerful shot which gave the visitors’ goalkeeper no chance.

Ryan Camenzuli doubled the score on 19 minutes thanks to a great goal when he advanced on the right, rounded a defender and chipped the ball in style over the Liechtenstein goalkeeper.

Three minutes in the second half, Malta scored the third goal as YessousnCamilleri headed the ball home off a Ryan Camenzuli freekick from the right.

Substitute Daren Falzon increased the lead further on the 75th minute after receiving a through pass by Mark Scerri and lobbed the ball over goalkeeper Calliori.

The visitors reduced the gap on 78 minutes thanks to Christoph Duelli whose angled shot beat goalkeeper Daniel Balzan.
