Mosta seek first points

After suffering two defeats in their first two outings, Mosta will be seeking their first points on Friday as they take on Sliema Wanderers in one of the two BOV Premier League matches in programme on Friday at the Hibernians Stadium.

Although they were facing two of the strongest sides in the BOV Premier League, more was expected from the Blues and their performance was rather disappointing in both matches. Therefore against Sliema, they will be all out to register their first positive result.

The Wanderers, on the other hand, drew 1-1 with Floriana in their first outing, making a good comeback to beat Tarxien Rainbows 3-2 last week.

Meanwhile in the first match, Birkirkara are favourites to claim their third successive win as they take on Rabat Ajax.

The Stripes claimed maximum points from the first two matches as they defeated Melita 4-0 and Balzan 2-1. Ryan Scicluna is ruled out through suspension while Shola Shodiya and Joselito dos Reis are in doubt as they are recovering from injuries. However Nikola Vukanac will be back after serving a two-match ban while Malta international defender Edward Herrera is set to make his debut.

The Magpies earned their first point in a 3-3 draw with Melita and hope for another positive result. However Silvio Vella will once again be unable to field his best formation due to the absence of defenders Clive Brincat, Heiner Backhaus and Geatano Gesualdi.
