Four teams seek first win

Four teams will be seeking their first win in the BOV Premier League as Hamrun Spartans face Tarxien and Balzan take on Floriana in the two matches in programme at the National Stadium.

In the first match, Hamrun will be aiming for a third positive result against a Tarxien side which is yet to claim its first point. The Spartans were held in a 2-2 draw by Balzan and in a 1-1 draw by Floriana in their first two outings. The Rainbows, on the other hand, lost 0-1 to Valletta and 2-3 to Sliema Wanderers.

Since last week, Tarxien went through a number of changes as Clive Mizzi replaced Danilo Doncic as their new coach while Roderick Bajada, Ryan Sammut, David Fenech and Brazilian striker Andrezinho joined the club. Danilo Meira Santos is ruled out as he serves a suspension.

Hamrun, on the other hand, cannot count on the injured Terence Scerri and the suspended Roderick Fenech.

The second game is the clash between Balzan and Floriana. Balzan drew 2-2 with Hamrun and lost 1-2 to Birkirkara while Floriana earned two points in two 1-1 draws with Sliema and Hamrun.

The Greens released two of their most established players in the squad Christian Cassar and Christian Caruana – the latter joining Balzan. However Caruana is currently recovering from an injury and is in doubt of making his debut. Renato Conceicao is still ruled out through suspension. manager Ivan Zammit will be able to lead the team after a three-match ban.
