Marsaxlokk returned to winning ways as they defeated Birzebbuga St. Peter’s 2-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Friday.

The Southseasiders move on top the First Division table on seven points.

Matt Clarke and Douglas da Silva Silveira scored the two goals for Marsaxlokk on the 45th and the 92nd respectively.

The second match in programme between Naxxar Lions and Gzira United ended in a 2-2 draw.

Darren Falzon put Naxxar ahead on 27 minutes, Steve Meilak equalised one minute from half time, Andre Rocha da Silva made it 2-1 for Naxxar on the 58th minute by converting a penalty but Alfred Effiong restored equilibrium on the 70th.

Meanwhile two Naxxar Lions players were reportedly approached by a person in a bribery attempt.
