Mosta, Birkirkara in clash for second place

Mosta and Birkirkara will be all out for the three points on Sunday as the two teams cross swords in a direct clash for second place in one of the two matches in programme at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

The Stripes are currently third on 20 points together with Sliema Wanderers, followed by Mosta on 19. Valletta lead the way with 25 point with Hibernians in second place on twenty-two.

Mosta registered a comfortable 5-0 win over Melita in their last outing and have now won six of the last eight matches. Birkirkara, on the other hand, are coming from a 1-1 draw with Qormi, collecting just five points from the last four matches.

Edward Herrera and Gareth Sciberras are suspended while Shola Shodiya and Joselito dos Reis are injured but Zach Muscat will be back after serving a one-match ban. Mosta should be in full strength as they welcome back Luke Dimech.

Meanwhile in the first match, Qormi face Tarxien Rainbows.

Jesmond Zerafa’s side rescued a point in a 1-1 draw with Birkirkara last week and now target another positive result as they hope to climb out of the danger zone. They have gone six games without a win, claiming just two points in two draws.

Tarxien, on the other hand, claimed ten points from the last four matches to move sixth. Another win could possibly put them in fourth or fifth place.

Evaldo Silva dos Santos returns for Tarxien after serving a one-match ban. Qormi could not count on the suspended Joseph Chetcuti.
