Hibernians hope to close in on leaders

Hibernians hope to close in on leaders Valletta and Birkirkara as they take on Mosta in one of the two BOV Premier League matches in programme on Monday at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

The Paolites defeated Floriana and Hamrun Spartans in their last two matches and are now four points behind the leaders. A win over Mosta would put them one point behind Valletta and Birkirkara.

Mosta, on the other hand, are coming from a narrow defeat to Birkirkara and are eager to bounce back. A win would put them on level points with Hibernians in third place.

Marcelo Dias returns for Hibernians after serving a one-match ban.

In the first round, Hibernians defeated Mosta 3-2.

Meanwhile in the second match, Floriana take on Sliema Wanderers.

The Greens have gone six matches without a win, losing four and earning the points in two draws with Qormi and Melita. Sliema, on the other hand, maintained their positive run with a draw against Valletta after beating Melita and Balzan. They are currently fourth on 20 points.

After signing Igor Coronado, Floriana signed another Brazilian player Haygnner Henrique Celestino while Akanni-Sunday Wasiu could be back after settling the differences with the club. Valdo Alhinho and Kane Farrugia will be back after serving a one-match ban but Duncan Pisani, Owen Bugeja, Carl Tremarco and Trevor Cilia are all ruled out.

The first round clash between Sliema and Floriana ended in a 1-1 draw.
