St. Andrews failed to take the top spot in the BOV First Division after being held in a 1-1 draw by Marsaxlokk. A draw which leaves them in second place behind leaders Lija Athletic.

Michael Grima put St. Andrews ahead on 21 minutes and Douglas da Silva Silveira converted a penalty for Marsaxlokk on 64 minutes to level matters.

Meanwhile in the first match, Dingli Swallows registered a dramatic 3-2 win over Birzebbuga St. Peter’s.

David Senior put Dingli ahead on 39 minutes and doubled the score ten minutes in the second half. However the Saints reduced the gap on the hour thanks to a Vincius Pereira dos Santos penalty and the same player levelled matters on the 65th minute. But one minute in added time, Rio Micallef notched the winner for Dingli.

Lija lead the way with 17 points, followed by St. Andrews on 16 Naxxar 15, Pietà and Marsaxlokk 14, Zejtun and Gudja 12, Vittoriosa 11, Gzira 9, Dingli 7, Birzebbuga 3 and Mqabba 2.
