Birkirkara Christmas Festival 2012

For the 22nd year running, Birkirkara FC Youth Nursery will be holding the annual Christmas Festival at the Infetti Training Grounds. This time round, the two categories involved in this festival are open for children born in 2002 and 2003, that means for the Under-11 and Under-10 teams. This event will get under way on Boxing Day, Wednesday 26th December and will come to a close three days later on Saturday 29th December.

In this year’s edition, the number of team playing will be twelve where, as usual, Birkirkara will be represented in both categories together with Pieta’ Hotspurs, St Andrew’s, Valletta and Hamrun Spartans, while Naxxar Lions and San Gwann will be represented by an Under-11 squad. Therefore there will be seven teams in the Under-11 and five teams in the Under-10 category respectively.

Teams will play each other in a Round Robin system, and will be playing on an 8-a-side basis.

Given the age of the two categories where competitive football goes against the governing body’s policies, no points will be given for wins and draws, while results will not be published. All players and participating teams will be given a commemorative team photo as a token.

Matchdays will be scheduled as follows:
Wednesday 26th First match at 9.00am, last match at 4.00pm
Thursday 27th First match at 10.00am, last match at 5.00pm
Friday 28th First match at 10.00am, last match at 3.00pm
Saturday 29th First match at 9.00am, last match at 5.00pm

All matches will kick off on the hour. Every game will have two halves of twenty five minutes each, with a five minute break between the first and the second half.

This Festival will be played under the Youth and Grassroots Committee of the Malta Football Association regulations. The Nursery wishes that this Festival is played in a friendly and festive atmosphere, thus is making an appeal to all those present to refrain from exerting pressure on the players and not to use any foul and abusive language or behaviour. The Nursery would also like to give the best wishes to everyone.
