Zebbug, St. Andrews reach U*BET FA Trophy quarter-finals

BOV Second Division leaders Zebbug Rangers were the first team to reach the quarter-finals of the U*BET FA Trophy as they defeated BOV Third Division side Marsaskala 3-0.

Miguel Francica put the Rangers ahead three minutes from the end of the first half. Alan Tabone doubled the score on 67 minutes and John Nwoba sealed the issue with a third goal in added time.

In the quarter-finals, Zebbug will be facing the winner of the clash between Gudja United and Hibernians which will be played on Tuesday.

In another fourth round match on Sunday, St. Andrews defeated Mqabba 4-1 after extra-time in a clash between two teams from the BOV First Division.

Joseph Okonkwo put Mqabba ahead on the 19th minute but St. Andrews levelled matters just before the end of the first half thanks to Brian Said.

With no goals being scored in the second half, the game went into extra-time. Here Trayo Grozev turned out to be the hero for the Saints as he put them ahead on 109 minutes, adding another goal three minutes later when he converted a penalty and sealing the issue with a fourth goal on the 120th minute.

In the quarter-finals, St. Andrews take on the winner of the clash between Lija Athletic and Floriana.
