Five Premier League players suspended

Five Premier League players were handed a one-match ban by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner following the weekend’s matches.

Matthew Mendy (Balzan), Kane Farrugia and Carl Tremarco (Floriana), Stefano Bianciardi (Sliema) and Andre Reinaldo de Souza Esposito (Tarxien) are therefore ruled out of the weekend’s games.

Floriana could not count on Farrugia and Tremarco in the game against Hibernians, Mendy is ruled out of the game against Valletta. Bianciardi missed the clash with Hamrun Spartans while Andrezinho will be missing the game against Rabat.

Meanwhile Ryan Mintoff and Vinicius Pereira dos Santos (Birzebbuga), Rupert Mangion (Marsaxlokk), Jonathan Briscoe White and Luke Cesareo (St. Andrews) and Charlo Magro (Zejtun) were banned for one match in Division 1.

In DivisioMark Gauci (Gharghur), Daniel Saliba (Mellieha), Geoffrey Spiteri and Kane William Micallef (Pembroke), Quincy Bregman and Gianluca Vella (St. George’s), Mark Muscat (St. Venera) and Karl Sacco (Zurrieq) were handed a one-match ban in Division 2 while Pembrolke Athleta assistant coach Godwin Gatt was suspended for two matches.

Colin Gatt (Ghaxaq), Gordon Mizzi (Luqa), Ryan Cauchi (Marsaskala), Franklin Cassar (Qrendi), Erin Azzopardi (Senglea), Glendon Refalo and Alessandro di Silvio (Swieqi) were banned for one match in Division 3 while Glen Brincat (Senglea) was handed a two-match ban.
