Thirteen Premier League players suspended

Thirteen Premier League players were suspended by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner following the weekend’s matches.

Renato Garcia Conceicao (Balzan) was banned for two matches while Bjorn Bondin (Balzan), Paul Fenech and Joseph Zerafa (Birikrara), Clayton Failla and Zoran Levnajic (Hibernians), Andrew Caruana Scicluna (Melita), Carlos Campagnoli (Mosta), Alfred Effiong and Jonathan Bondin (Qormi), Clifford Gatt Baldacchino and Mark Scerri (Sliema) were all suspended for one match. Adrian Farrugia (Mosta) was also banned for one match as he did not submit a valid medical certificate.

Balzan coach Ivan Zammit was suspended for two matches.

Andrew Caruana Scicluna, Alfred Effiong and Jonathan Bondin are ruled out of Melita vs Qormi while Renato Conceicao, Bjorn Bondin, Clifford Gatt Baldacchino and Mark Scerri will be missing Sliema vs Balzan. Conceicao will also miss Balzan’s first game from the Relegation Pool.

Failla and Levnajic are ruled out of the derby against Tarxien while Carlos Campagnoli misses the game against Mosta. On the other hand, Paul Fenech and Joseph Zerafa will be unavailable for the game against Hamrun.

Meanwhile in Division 1, Clayton Micallef of Mqabba was banned for four matches. Mqabba team-manager Mario Borg and official Jeremy Mercieca were suspended for six matches each.

Evano Briffa (Lija) and Roberto Brincat (Vittoriosa) were handed a one-match ban.

In Division 2, Philip Chircop (Fgura), Justin Zammit (Mellieha), Johann Said and Brian Galea (Mgarr), Richard Attard (Msida), Roderick Farrugia (Siggiewi), Lucian Scerri (St. Patrick) and Stephen Azzopardi (Zurrieq) were all banned for one match.

Leonard Alla (Ghaxaq), Abduljawed Musha (Kalkara), Marko Milutinovic (Marsaskala), Trevor Thomas (Senglea), Elton Catania and Matthew Bonnici (Swieqi) and Ivo Ginev (Xghajra) were banned for one match in Division 3 while Dylan Agius (Marsa) was suspended for two matches.

Bertrand Ntem (Gudja), Daniel Axiaq (Mgarr), Olatunde Banidele Balaji (Msida), Tonio D’Amato (Zurrieq), Dino Falzon (Ghaxaq), Patrick Muscat (Kalkara), Brandon Mercieca (Luqa), ALdrin Muscat (Qrendi), Matthew Bonnici (Swieqi) and Justin Pace (Ta’ Xbiex) were all banned for one match since they had not submitted a medical certificate.
