Hibernians regain top spot after winning protest

Hibernians were awarded a 3-0 win over Floriana following a protest against the result of last Friday’s BOV Premier League match over the ineligibility of English defender Harry Agombar.

Agombar, who was making his debut after joining the club earlier during the week, was included as a substitute on the 90th minute, replacing Igor Coronado. Floriana won the game 1-0.

Hibernians therefore move on top the BOV Premier League table with 44 points followed by Valletta on 43, Birkirkara 40, Tarxien 37, Sliema and Mosta 34, Balzan and Qormi 27, Floriana 24, Hamrun 16, Melita 14 and Rabat 8,

Hibernians argued that the player was registered with another three clubs – Macclesfield, Grays Athletic and Histon – and had already played for Grays Athletic and Histon during season 2012/13 and therefore according to FIFA Regulations, he was ineligible to play for Floriana.
