Pietà Hotspurs joined Lija Athletic on top the BOV First Division as they defeated Zejtun Corinthians 2-1 in one of the two matches in programme at the Centenary Stadium.

Cleaven Cassar put Pietà ahead after just three minutes and Senior David doubled the score on the 24th. Josuel Spiteri scored a consolation goal for Zejtun on the 74th.

In another match, Marsaxlokk dropped important points as they were held in a goalless draw by Birzebbuga St. Peter’s.

Lija and Pietà lead the way with 26 points, followed by Naxxar and Marsaxlokk on 25, Vittoriosa 24, St. Andrews 21, Gudja 19, Zejtun 17, Gzira 15, Birzebbuga 9, Dingli 8 and Mqabba 4.
