Five Premier League players suspended

Five Premier League players will be missing the first match from the second phase after being suspended by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner on Wednesday.

Jonathan Francica (Balzan), Karl Vella Petroni (Melita), Bryan Agius (Mosta) and John Mintoff (Sliema) were banned after being sent off or after receiving a fourth yellow card while Yessous Camilleri (Balzan) was suspended as he does not have a valid medical certificate.

Melita coach Patxi Salinas was banned for two matches following protests at the end of the game against Qormi.

Meanwhile in Division 1, Marlon Briffa, Victor Bellia and Lydon Micallef (Naxxar), Erjon Beu and Clayton Giordimaina (Lija), Mark Brincat (Marsaxlokk) and Claudio Calleja (Mqabba) were all suspended for one match.

Heathcliff Schembri (Fgura), William Borg (Mellieha), James Shead (Siggiewi), Mauro Brincat (St. George’s) and Leone Camilleri (Zebbug) were handed a one-match ban in Division 2 while Shawn Peplow (Mtarfa), Steve Scicluna (Qrendi), Gaynor D’Amato (Santa Lucia) and Glendon Refalo (Swieqi) were suspended for one match in Division 3.

Other players who were suspended as they did not submit a medical certificate are Jimmy Hussey (Gzira) in Division 1, Klinsmann Grech (Msida) and Vesko Petrovic (St. Venera) in Division 2, Colin Gatt and Francois Galea (Ghaxaq) and Franklyn Cassar (Qrendi) in Division 3.
