Eight Premier League players suspended

Eight Premier League players were handed a one-match ban by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner following the weekend’s matches.

Harun Shola Shodiya (Birkirkara), Owen Bugeja (Floriana), Roderick Fenech (Hamrun), Matthew Borg and Andrew Caruana Scicluna (Melita), Jonathan Bondin (Qormi), Ivan Woods (Sliema) and Andre Reinaldo de Souza Esposito (Tarxien) are therefore ruled out of the weekend’s games from the BOV Premier League.

Shodiya will miss the Championship Pool clash against Hibernians and Woods that against Valletta. Andrezinho is ruled out of the game against Mosta. In the Relegation Pool, Borg, Caruana Scicluna and Bondin are ruled out of Qormi vs Melita, Roderick Fenech misses the game against Rabat and Owen Bugeja the clash with Balzan.

Meanwhile in Division 1, Andre Scicluna and Matthew Fleri Soler (Lija), Ryan Mifsud (Marsaxlokk), Michael David Johnson and Neil Chetcuti (St. Andrews) were handed a one-match ban.

Richard Attard (Msida) was banned for two matches in Division 2 while Christian Francica and Neil Scerri (Gharghur), John Roland Emeka and Kane William Micallef (Pembroke), Mark Camilleri, Neville Galea and Elton Calleja (Siggiewi) were all suspended for one match. San Gwann team manager Raymond Colombo was banned for two matches.

In Division 3, Gordon Mizzi (Luqa) and Gianni Spiteri (Sirens) were banned for three matches and Abduljawed Musha (Kalkara) was suspended for two matches. Luqa team manager Omar Camilleri was banned for eight months. On the other hand, Colin Attard and Daniel Gauci (Attard), Patrick Muscat (Kalkara), Adrian Psaila (Luqa), Gary Caruana (Mtarfa), Mark Ellul (Qrendi) and Jonathan Bugeja (Santa Lucia) were suspended for one match.

Gaetano Farrugia (Msida), Adam Cacciattolo and Cody Grima (Mtarfa) were suspended for not submitting a medical certificate.
