Valletta seek morale-boosting win

valletta-mosta120826After losing to Tarxien Rainbows, Birkirakra and Hibernians, Valletta will be all out to claim the three points on Saturday as they take on Mosta in one of the two BOV Premier League matches in programme at the National Stadium.

The Citizens collected just two points from the last four matches, meaning that they lost the top spot and eventually started to lose ground and are now fourth seven, five and three points behind Birkirkara, Hibernians and Sliema Wanderers respectively.

Coach Mark Miller is expected to make changes to the team which lost 4-2 to Hibernians, not only due to the unavailability of Jonathan Caruana and Jason Vandelannoite who are both suspended.

Mosta lost the last six matches and only hope to limit the damages against the Citizens. They are coming from a 0-1 defeat to Sliema.

In the first round, Valletta registered a 3-1 win over Mosta and after a 1-0 win for the Blues in the second round, the Citizens won 5-0 in the third round.

Meanwhile in a match from the Relegation Pool, Qormi take on Rabat Ajax.

Qormi disappointed in their last outing as they allowed Floriana to recover a two-goal deficit, losing 2-4. They still lie in a comfortable position as they are second in the Relegation Pool with 22 points, ten ahead of Hamrun Spartans who are second from bottom.

Rabat registered a fine 3-0 win over Balzan in their last outing and now seek another positive result in their bid to avoid a quick return to Division 1.

Both sides will be unable to field their best formation due to the absence of Luke Sciberras and Dylan Falzon who are ruled out through suspension.

In the first two rounds, Qormi won 1-0 and 3-0 but the third round clash ended in a 2-1 win for the Magpies.
