Lija Athletic and Vittoriosa Stars are joint-leaders in the BOV First Division as both registered wins on Saturday.

Lija Athletic defeated Marsaxlokk 5-1 while Vittoriosa Stars defeated Zejtun Corinthians 3-0.

In the first game, Beppe Antignolo put Lija ahead on the 5th minute and Abdullahi Ige Adeshina doubled the score three minutes in the second half. Andre Grabowski pulled one back for Marsaxlokk on 62 minutes but Antignolo scored again for Lija to restore the two-goal lead. Leontiev Konda made it 4-1 on 81 minutes and two minutes later, Erjon Beu sealed the issue with a fifth goal.

In the other game, Marcelo Pereira put the Stars ahead on 31 minutes and eight minutes later, the same player doubled the score. Lydon Micallef sealed the issue with a third goal six minutes from time.

Lija and Vittoriosa lead the way with 41 points, followed by Pietà on 39, Naxxar 37, St. Andrews 36, Marsaxlokk 29, Gudja 26, Zejtun 21, Gzira 20, Birzebbuga 16, Dingli 13 and Mqabba 8.
