Football Festival for Girls organised by Kirkop Nursery

kirkop-girls-festival-apr2013Kirkop United FC – Girls Nursery organised a football festival for girls on Saturday 13th April. This was another step forward for this successful and hard working girls nursery which is being seen as a role model for girls nurseries.

During the month of March, the nursery did an intensive promotion in 8 primary schools and also attended the Sports Day in St Benedict Girls Junior Lyceum. During these visits, the nursery promoted football to young girls and invited them for the Festival.

Parents, teachers and forty-seven new girls attended this event which was held at the club’s new training grounds. Kids aged 5 to 14 enjoyed themselves while participating in various games, therefore having their first taste of playing football. All kids were given a free t-shirt sponsored by Banif Bank and also a token for their participation.

Moreover the girls had the opportunity to meet and take photos with National team players Charlene Zammit and Dorianne Theuma who were an integral part of the successful National team in the preliminaries during the first week of April.

Deputy General Secretary (Grassroots, Youth Development & Education) Maria Mifsud also attended this activity and congratulated the nursery for this great initiative. Senior players of the same club recently promoted to the BOV Women’s First Division, Under 16 players and parents helped the coaches and committee in the organisation of this activity.
